Salesforce

Overview

Salesforce is a customer relationship management (CRM) platform that helps businesses manage their interactions with customers, track sales, and automate various business processes.

The Salesforce integration with Lob allows you to automate direct mail campaigns within Lob, based off any event trigger change that occurred within your Salesforce account.

This feature is currently in closed beta while we continue to expand functionality. Reach out to your Account Manager to learn more.

How to connect Lob with Salesforce

  1. Within the Lob Dashboard, navigate to the Integrations page and click on “Salesforce” to view the Salesforce connection page. When on the Salesforce page, click the “Connect Salesforce” button to begin.

  2. You will be prompted to enter your Salesforce account credentials for the username and password that you want to make the connection to. Lob will use these credentials to sync the Salesforce table objects and their fields that are accessible to that user’s profile

  • The user profile that is connected must have Admin-level permissions within Salesforce.

  • Salesforce data will reflect the state of the table objects and fields at the time of the sync. Each night at 12am PST, we will run an update to pull the latest data that are available to the user’s profile to which the sync is connected to.

  • Your Salesforce account / organization must be on a paid Salesforce plan.

  1. Once you have connected your Salesforce account to Lob, if successful the “Not Connected” label will show “Connected”. From here, you can begin to set up Audience triggers to be used in any Campaign send.

How to set up a Salesforce event trigger within Lob

Once you’ve successfully connected Lob to your Salesforce account, you will be able to set up an event trigger which will later be used to launch your first automated campaign.

Salesforce event triggers allow you to set up a set of rules that, if met, would allow you to trigger a campaign to send automatically to the recipient who met the trigger conditions.

To set up a Trigger, select “New Trigger. ” You will be presented with the following elements when creating a trigger:

  1. Trigger Name

    • The trigger name is what you will use and reference later within a campaign.

    • There’s no character count limit or type of character restriction that could be added here. Essentially the user can put anything here.

    • This field is required for a trigger to be created/saved

  2. Table

    • The values in this dropdown will pull a list of all tables that are available within your Salesforce account for the user that was connected during the initial Lob ↔ Salesforce set up integration.

    • To find the Salesforce tables, within Salesforce, use the Search bar at the top or find the “Object Manager” to search for the table you want to use for the trigger.

    • This field is required for a trigger to be created/saved

  3. Select Trigger

    • The available options here that you can define how the trigger will fire are:

      1. After insert

      2. After update

      3. After delete

    • This field is required for a trigger to be created/saved

  4. Fields

    • This is an optional field and is not required for the trigger to be created/saved.

    • The values in this dropdown will pull a list of the columns that are associated to the table selected in the Table dropdown.

    • To find a table’s fields, within Salesforce, click into a table to see an expanded view of all potential columns available for the table. These input fields are what will be displayed in the “Fields” input field in Lob’s dashboard UI to select a trigger column.

  • When a value is selected within this dropdown, the trigger will then only look at that specific column for the trigger condition to occur. For example, if looking at an Accounts Table and the field is First Name, then only a new First Name added, and an update to an existing First Name entry, or a deleted First Name will allow the trigger condition to be met.

When your trigger is created it will now be available for use in Campaigns. See how to set up a trigger-based campaign here.
